SDA Definition

"Christ's humanity alone could never have endured this test, but His divine power combined with humanity gained in behalf of man an infinite victory.", E. G. White, The Review and Herald, October 13, 1874.

"In Christ dwelt the fullness of the Godhead bodily. This is why, although He was tempted in all points like as we are, He stood before the world, from His first entrance into it, untainted by corruption, though surrounded by it", Ms. 16, 1890.

"Be careful, exceedingly careful, as to how you dwell upon the human nature of Christ. Do not set Him before the people as a man with the propensities of sin. He is the second Adam. The first Adam was created a pure, sinless being, without a taint of sin upon him; he was in the image of God. He could fall, and he did fall through transgressing. Because of sin his posterity was born with inherent propensities of disobedience. But Jesus Christ was the only begotten Son of God. He took upon Himself human nature, and was tempted in all points as human nature is tempted. He could have sinned; He could have fallen, but not for one moment was there in Him an evil propensity. He was assailed with temptations in the wilderness, as Adam was assailed with temptations in Eden.", E. G. White, Letter 8, 1895.

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;", Romans 3:23.

Our Observation

God's character is what defines sin. There is no way God can fall short of Himself. To suggest so is to belittle the fact that the Christian Jesus is God. Such talk is foolishness.

He is not the whimpy, effiminate, timid, meek Jesus that Ellen White portrays taking on Satan as Michael the Archangel. He is not on a par with Gabriel and the other leading angels. He is God. There never was any controversy between God and Satan. That is a figment of Ellen White's and John Milton's imagination. Like the paintings on Adventist magazines of Jesus and Satan playing laser tag, it demeans and lowers God the Son from his full position as God, and Creator of Satan, a mere angel.
